journall about critique"Its hard to find a person who can gives a "PERFECT" critique"
well... thats is my persolan oppinion, since people ussually only says "good" or "nice", "awesome~!!" and if they doesnt like ur piece, they`ll go with " the composition wasnt good", " this picture is lack of xxx" , "give more details", and some people are quite lazy with only "I dont like this" etc.....
well..critiques wasnt a bad thing, but sometime people critiques an art with their own standart, without asking further about the philosophy or concept, and I know, understanding art isnt an easy thing to do, even I often do this also, so mostly I`ll giving critiques in drawing technique or some basic things like shading, colour, perspective etc, but I`ll not critique the picture`s psychology or concept, (for some case, the artist was intentionally draw a messy picture, in this case, I think a "good" comment will do XD lol )
about the "perfect" critique (yeah, I know, nothing was perfect in this world, but at least... almost perfect) in my oppinion was giving a critique on which the art lack of, and then giving a solution that can make that art better, some people just crituque that your drawing was bad etc without giving a advice, well.... for me that is flamming, not a critique -_-; I have encountered this kind of critiques many times and it wasnt very pleasant, because they come.... they said that ur drawing was bad... and then just go without a trace without giving a good advice or solution...yeah..thats hurts you know, LOL
and I aware that giving a perfect critique isnt an easy thing to do (I myself cannot give a "perfect" critique either), so far, I only meet two people who fits with this "perfect critique" category, so, if u found this kind of people, you should happy and learn alot from them XD
nb: the definition of "perfect" here was differ from people to people, and I just sharing my oppinion here

first. sometimes, giving an opinion may be critique. if somebody says that your background is a little dark, or if he says red would look better for this or that. it may be only his opinion, but it may also let you notice what you didn't notice. maybe think of other ways the artwork might be.
some people may see a mistake, but do not know well how to give solutions. so they just say what they didn't like. remember not all people can give good critiques.
and then, there are some people who may give you critique, but it sounds like an attack. I think critique should not just focus on what is bad about the artwork. but also what is good. but there are some people who may just look at the bad point and try to shoot you from there. even if the remark was right and the critique is constructive, they may let it seem like a bad remark.
some artists, especially professional artists working for some big company, if you give them critique, they will either ignore you or hide it. they have pride and look high on themselves. if you are not higher artist and more famous than them, they will not respect your critique. and this, in my opinion, is not good for an artist. since an artist is never "perfect"
I avoid criticizing people's art because so many people do not like to get critiques. they feel in a defensive position and they don't like it.
at last, I'd like to say that if a good person (who criticizes) meets a good artist (who accepts critiques), they would make a good couple.

People who uses the fake excuses really is the worst. They don't dare to tell the truth, and covered it with more lies. If the one you lied to learned the truth, it'll be more painful than saying it right to the face from the beginning.
But I still disable the critique feature because too many give their personal opinions instead of a general one, even I have slipped up a few times like that, but luckily only rarely. Plus if you are going to critique something, you need to mention why it dosn't look good and how it can be fixed...Saying "the nose looks weird" or "the perspective is a bit off" dosn't help at all and I take comments like that as an offense rather than help

No artist enjoys having their work rudely bad mouthed, but constructive and good willed suggestions for improvement should always be accepted.
And we do have to remember that everyone has a different style and perspective on art. Something that some artists deem "wrong" is not necessarily wrong in the eyes of another. *u*

kritik ada karna ada kebutuhan artisnya sendiri, audience dan market pun sangat membutuhkan itu..hingga munculah seorang kurator.
contoh kasus:
nyoman masriardi seorang pelukis muda bali yg karyanya berjudul man from bantul...terjual seharga 9,5 miliar di balai lelang dia menjadi pelukis termahal di asia tenggara saat ini
dan kontroversial tentunya..
ini jelas kerja kurator balai lelang cristie..
banyak kritik untuk ini tapi tetap ke topik semula lahir dari kritik dan di hujat oleh kritik..
bayangkan pengalaman pameran tunggal belum pernah tapi secara teknik memang tidak di ragukan lagi..
di isukan suatu rekayasa..
kalu menurutku biarin aja..
aku dah baca ttg jurnal di link atas
semua terserah senimanya..mau jadi marginal itu sah saja toh karya2 dan penemuan besar banyak lahir dari sisi marginal.

menurutku kalu bisa seorang kritikus bukanlah seorang pelaku seni tapi benar2 tau akan seni biar sedikit lebih obyektif walaupun semua karya seni adalah subyektif dalam penilaian estetik.
